U.S. Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez, who represents Florida’s 28th district, shared several updates on his official Twitter account on April 8, 2026. The posts addressed issues ranging from U.S. policy toward Cuba and Iran to local matters in the Florida Keys.
In a post made at 12:33 p.m., Gimenez criticized Democratic lawmakers, stating: “#SOSCuba The Democrat hypocrisy shouldn’t shock us. When will they accept that communism doesn’t work! https://t.co/PTVANOgDXI”.
Shortly after, at 1:04 p.m., he announced a television appearance regarding foreign affairs: “TUNE IN —> I’ll be on @FoxBusiness with @Varneyco at 9:15AM discussing the latest situation in #Iran and #Cuba.”
Later that day, Gimenez posted about his engagement with local officials in Islamorada, writing at 6:28 p.m.: “Great meeting with Mayor Don Horton and Village Manager Ron Saunders of Islamorada today. We discussed strengthening infrastructure, supporting our small businesses, and protecting the unique environment that makes the Florida Keys so special. https://t.co/LaGzNsXuO6”
Gimenez has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and previously held positions in the Florida House of Representatives as well as the Miami-Dade County Commission from 2005 to 2011. He was born in Havana, Cuba in 1954 and currently resides in Miami. Gimenez earned a Bachelor of Public Administration degree from Barry University in 1999.
