U.S. Representative Carlos A. Gimenez, who serves Florida’s 28th district, recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from U.S. policy toward Nicaragua to drug interdiction efforts by the Coast Guard.
On April 16, 2026, Gimenez posted criticism of the Nicaraguan government, stating, “The Murillo-Ortega dictatorship is a cancer in our hemisphere that survives on corruption and the theft of American property. Gimenez has represented Florida’s 28th congressional district since replacing Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in 2021 and previously served in both the Florida House of Representatives and Miami-Dade County Commission from 2005 to 2011. He was born in Havana, Cuba in 1954 and resides in Miami. In addition to his political career, he earned a Bachelor of Public Administration degree from Barry University in 1999.
