Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 28th district, posted several messages on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on April 9, 2026, addressing issues ranging from Cuban politics to U.S. foreign policy and local leadership.
In the morning, Gimenez commented on the political situation in Cuba: “#SOSCuba The regime in Havana is at its weakest point. President Trump has a historic opportunity to push the dictatorship over the brink!” (April 9, 2026).
Later that day, he acknowledged collaboration with a community leader: “¡Todo un honor trabajar de cerca con nuestro amigo y excelentísimo Recaudador de Impuestos, @darielfernandez , un verdadero líder en nuestra comunidad y luchador incansable por la causa de la libertad! “ (April 9, 2026).
In the evening, Gimenez addressed concerns regarding Iran’s human rights record and regional activities: “The Iranian regime’s track record of human rights abuses and regional terror cannot be ignored. It’s time for the United States to lead with strength and stand firmly on the side of those fighting for liberty.
#StrongAmerica #Iran #HumanRights #StandWithIran” (April 9, 2026).
Gimenez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1954 and currently resides in Miami. He has represented Florida’s 28th district since replacing Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in Congress in 2021 and previously served both in the Florida House of Representatives and on the Miami-Dade County Commission between 2005 and 2011. Gimenez holds a Bachelor of Public Administration from Barry University.
