Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 28th district, made several statements on social media in early September 2025 regarding actions against the Cuban government and related activities in Miami-Dade County.

On September 1, Gimenez posted his support for Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez, stating: ” I applaud @MDCTaxCollector Dariel Fernandez for standing up to the murderous Castro dictatorship. Miami-Dade will NOT be a safe haven for accomplices of the Cuban dictatorship.” He reiterated this stance on September 2, writing: “Thank you to my dear friend, our fearless Tax Collector @darielfernandez, for exposing the Castro regime’s front businesses in Miami-Dade County! We must hold these criminals accountable!”

In another post on September 2, Gimenez commented on U.S. military presence near Venezuela by saying: “God bless America! Our troops just off the coast of #Venezuela! “

Gimenez has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after replacing Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and previously held positions in both the Florida House of Representatives and the Miami-Dade County Commission from 2005 to 2011. Born in Havana, Cuba in 1954 and currently residing in Miami, Gimenez has been vocal about issues concerning Cuba due to his personal background. He graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor of Public Administration degree in 1999.
