Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 28th district since 2021, posted a series of tweets on September 3, 2025, addressing topics ranging from congratulating a colleague to criticizing international leaders and drug trafficking policies.

In his first post at 13:34 UTC, Gimenez offered congratulations to another member of Congress: “Congratulations to my dear friend & colleague, @RepLaurelLee! https://t.co/YSpdNQslHY”.

Later that day at 18:08 UTC, he commented on the Biden administration’s stance against drug trafficking and targeted the Venezuelan government: ” @POTUS made it clear: if you traffic deadly drugs into the United States, we will crush you. The narco-terrorist Maduro regime must be dismantled once and for all. https://t.co/BnbeEdEFxh”.

At 19:30 UTC on the same day, Gimenez criticized Colombian President Gustavo Petro’s remarks about drug traffickers and expressed concern over perceived leniency toward cartels: “Colombia’s @petrogustavo has just claimed that drug traffickers aren’t narcos, but rather just poor youths from the Caribbean & the Pacific. How OFFENSIVE & INSULTING to the hardworking people of #Colombia! Petro’s complicity with the cartels should shock nobody! https://t.co/wsLfkSl6us”.

Gimenez has been an active figure in U.S. politics since replacing Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in Congress in 2021 and previously served in both the Florida House of Representatives and Miami-Dade County Commission between 2005 and 2011. Born in Havana, Cuba in 1954 and currently residing in Miami, Gimenez graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor of Public Administration degree in 1999.
