Later that evening, at 21:42 UTC, Gimenez shared news about his leadership role in Congress: “I am honored to serve as the Chair of the Congressional Friends of Spain Caucus for the 119th Congress. Gimenez has represented Florida’s 28th District since replacing Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in 2021. Before serving in Congress, he held positions in the Florida House of Representatives and the Miami-Dade County Commission between 2005 and 2011. Born in Havana, Cuba in 1954, Gimenez currently resides in Miami and graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor of Public Administration degree in 1999.
