Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 28th district and originally from Havana, Cuba, posted several statements on April 14, 2026, addressing issues related to the Holocaust, Cuba’s involvement in Ukraine, and local enforcement actions in Miami-Dade County.
In a post commemorating Yom HaShoah on April 14, Gimenez stated: “On #YomHaShoah, we remember the six million murdered by the despicable Nazi regime & its agents during the Holocaust. We pay tribute to the survivors whose courage inspires us. I have the honor of representing many & remain committed to the promise of #NeverAgain!”
Later that day, he commented on international affairs involving Cuba and Russia: “It’s a fact. The regime in #Cuba sent soldiers to actively participate in dictator Vladimir Putin’s illegal, despicable invasion of #Ukraine.”
(Translation: “Our Tax Collector, @darielfernandez, is enforcing the laws and we support his efforts. The merchants of the regime and their agents have no place in Miami-Dade County. We can all contribute to the cause from our respective fields.”)
Gimenez has served as U.S. Representative for Florida’s 28th District since 2021 after replacing Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and previously held positions in both the Florida House of Representatives and Miami-Dade County Commission from 2005 to 2011. He was born in Havana in 1954 and currently resides in Miami.
