Later that day, he addressed the political situation in Venezuela with two tweets—one in English and one in Spanish. At 16:21 UTC, he wrote: ” The Venezuelan people are in the streets demanding freedom—and the regime is responding with repression and violence.
Let me be clear: the time is now. The time is now to stand with the Venezuelan people and end this dictatorship.

One minute later, he posted a similar message in Spanish: ” El pueblo Venezolano está en las calles exigiendo libertad, y el régimen responde con represión y violencia.

Gimenez’s remarks come amid ongoing unrest in Venezuela where citizens have protested against what they describe as an authoritarian regime led by Delcy Rodríguez. The posts reflect his call for international solidarity with demonstrators seeking democratic reforms and an end to government crackdowns.
Gimenez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1954 and currently lives in Miami. He graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor of Public Administration degree and previously served on the Miami-Dade County Commission as well as the Florida House of Representatives before joining Congress.
