Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez, who represents Florida’s 28th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on September 2, 2025, addressing recent actions against Venezuelan criminal organizations and expressing support for measures taken by the Dominican Republic and former President Donald Trump.

In his first tweet, Gimenez thanked the leadership of the Dominican Republic for their stance against the Cartel de los Soles.

Seguimos.” (September 2).

Gimenez then addressed his followers in English regarding Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s alleged involvement with drug trafficking and praised action taken by former President Trump: “#SOSVenezuela Let me be clear: Venezuela’s dictator Nicolas Maduro is the head of the criminal Cartel de los Soles, responsible for poisoning thousands of Americans with lethal drugs.

Today, President Trump took decisive action to protect American citizens from these thugs!” (September 2).

Carlos Giménez has represented Florida’s 28th District in Congress since 2021 after previously serving in both the Florida House of Representatives and Miami-Dade County Commission from 2005 to 2011. Born in Havana, Cuba in 1954 and currently residing in Miami, Giménez graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor of Public Administration degree in 1999.
