Commission and Management Public Retreat

7

City of Key West recently issued the following announcement.

The Key West City Commission and City management gathered Thursday in a publicly noticed retreat to pull together the final pieces of strategic planning. Under the guidance of Elisa Levy, the complete plan will come before the commission for adoption on August 17th.

The planning process is vital to set the direction of the next several years. The process has involved a community survey and numerous round tables with businesses, civic groups, and citizens.

“We’re creating this strategic plan to ensure that we’re addressing the issues that the community considers most important,” said City Manager Patti McLauchlin. “It’s a means of prioritizing issues and setting out ways to successfully accomplish these goals.”

Since the beginning of the year, Levy has been gathering information for the plan, whinnying out six top priorities to be addressed in the next three years. This week’s session was a hands-on session to set out an operational plan for addressing the priorities.

Levy will be finalizing a draft of the plan based on all of this work, sharing the result with the community in focus groups, then bring it to the commission meeting for approval.
