State Park to Host Educational Crab Program

Greater Marathon Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

Come learn about a variety of crabs in an educational program at Long Key State Park

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Long Key State Park will host the, “Crabs, the Janitors of your Vacation,” program on Saturday, January 15, 2022,

from 11 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m.

Meet six of the Florida Keys’ native crabs while joining a park ranger for an easy stroll along Long Key State Park’s nature trail. How might our world look without these cleaning

crustaceans? Come find out and see the important role crabs serve in the diverse ecosystems all around us and learn how crabs are the janitors of your vacation.

This event is weather permitting and subject to cancellation. Program is free with regular park admission fee. (Vehicles with two-plus people: $5.00 + $0.50 per person. $4.50 for 

vehicle with single occupant. $2.50 per pedestrians, bicyclists, and passengers in vehicle with holder of

Annual Individual Entrance Pass).
