City Participates in Countywide Drill

65

Emergency managers and responders gathered at the Monroe County emergency operations center this week for a full response drill.  The dry run ensures that communication and coordination run smoothly in an actual hurricane.

The group worked with a complete scenario of an approaching storm and the response to the aftermath.

Key West participants included Fire Chief Alan Averette, Interim Division Chief of Emergency Management & Training Gregory Barroso, Transit Director Rod Delostrinos, Police Lt. Joe Tripp, and Fire Lt. Karl Wagner.

"These drills ensure that we all work together under the federal incident command system," said Barroso, "so we can serve the community in the best way possible if a storm hits."
