Carlos A. Giménez, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida's 28th district, recently shared his perspectives on international and domestic issues through a series of tweets. Known for his active role in politics since replacing Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in 2021, Giménez continues to engage with significant political developments.
On December 9, 2024, Giménez commented on the geopolitical situation in Syria following the fall of the Assad regime. He noted that this event is "a major blow for Putin’s #Russia & the Ayatollahs in #Iran" and emphasized the importance of maintaining a U.S. presence in the region due to concerns about terrorist ties among fighters filling the power vacuum "There is now a power vacuum in Syria & many of these fighters have terrorist ties — & it’s why we must keep a U.S. presence in the region to deter our adversaries."
Later that day, Giménez expressed support for former President Trump’s stance on immigration policies, asserting that securing borders and deporting criminals are necessary steps while also advocating for solutions for DREAMERs. He attributed current border issues to President Biden and suggested Trump would resolve them "Biden created the border crisis — Trump will fix it!"
In another tweet from December 9, Giménez congratulated Brian Mast on becoming Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee's Republican side. He looked forward to collaborating with Mast to counteract communist influences within their hemisphere "Looking forward to continuing working together to deter the communist dictatorships in our hemisphere!"
