On March 5, 2025, Rep. Gimenez expressed strong support for former President Donald Trump's stance on the Panama Canal, emphasizing its American origins and rejecting any influence from China. He stated, "PRESIDENT TRUMP IS RIGHT! THE PANAMA CANAL IS AN AMERICAN INNOVATION — IT’S NOT COMMUNIST CHINA’S!"
Later that day, Rep. Gimenez announced his scheduled appearance on Univision following a speech by President Trump. He tweeted, "¡Estaré en @Univision luego del discurso del Presidente Donald Trump!"
In another tweet posted on March 5, 2025, Rep. Gimenez addressed allegations of corruption within the Panamanian government and the canal's board, attributing some of this to Chinese influence.
