ISLAMORADA, VILLAGE OF ISLANDS: Heavy Traffic Through Islamorada This Weekend

Trafficnight

Islamorada, Village of Islands issued the following announcement on Feb. 20.

There will be heavy traffic through Islamorada this weekend. The heaviest traffic is expected on Plantation Key from 8AM to 6PM on Saturday and Sunday. Traffic should flow well in the early morning hours and in the evening but will be very heavy throughout the day. The heavy traffic is expected to extend well beyond Plantation Key.

Traffic that is already very heavy this time of year will be even heavier this weekend due to the very popular Nautical Flea Market at Founders Park (Mile Marker 87). The Nautical Flea Market is the largest annual fundraiser for the Upper Keys Rotary. Proceeds from the event benefit hundreds of local youth through college scholarships.

Islamorada residents and all Florida Keys travelers are advised to drive carefully, be prepared for traffic to stop, and allow for extra time to reach their destinations. Monroe County Sheriff’s Officers will be on duty to ensure traffic moves as smoothly as possible during the event.

EVENT PARKING AT CORAL SHORES HIGH SCHOOL, MILE MARKER 90

To help reduce the number of vehicles on US 1 and avoid the frustration of driving in heavy traffic, Nautical Flea Market attendees coming from the north are strongly encouraged to park at Coral Shores High School, oceanside at MM 90, and ride the free shuttle bus to Founders Park. The shuttle will run continuously during the flea market.
