Key West Woman's Club Donates Delightful Teddy Bears

3

City of Key West recently issued the following announcement.

The Key West Woman's Club made a very special donation to the Key West Police Department and Key West Fire and Rescue Department.  Sandy Higgs and Jean Shannon, on behalf of the Woman's Club, delivered adorably dressed teddy bears.

These bears were dressed in individual outfits by the Woman's Club members.

First responders carry the stuffed animals in their vehicles for any traumatized children they may encounter in the line of service.

"We sincerely appreciate this generous donation," said Chief Sean Brandenburg. "When a child is scared and upset, these can be of great comfort."

"It's true," said Fire Chief Alan Averette. "It's amazing how you can calm a child down with all the lights going and sirens just by handing them a cuddly bear."
