City of Key West recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Key West wrapped up its fourth town hall meeting on Wednesday, taking community input regarding the future of the historic diesel plant in Bahama Village.
"We've heard some great ideas for the use of that property," said City Manager Patti McLauchlin. "We've also heard some concerns. All of this is being incorporated in our request for proposals."
Once proposals have been received, McLauchlin assured that there would be further public meetings to ensure that the plans fit the neighborhood and the entire community.
The City acquired the property from Keys Energy several years ago, and it had sat empty and unused for decades before that trans for ownership. The City is looking forward to proposals that retain the historic nature of the building while enhancing the community.
