City of Key West recently issued the following announcement.
Key West City Clerk Cheri Smith announced Senior Deputy City Clerk Keri O'Brien had received her designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk. The designation by the
International Institute of Municipal Clerks represents a huge commitment of time and study on O'Brien's part. Still, it assures the community that the City Clerk's office provides the
best service possible.
O'Brien began with the City in August of 2019 as a Deputy City Clerk and was promoted to Senior Deputy City Clerk in December of 2020.
"She attended every academy, conference, and webinar available," said Smith. "Keri will now start a new journey to receive her Master Municipal Clerk designation. She is
dedicated to her profession and the City of Key West."
Smith noted that O'Brien received her certification in record time; the course usually takes three years to achieve this certification.
The City Clerk's office plays an essential role in municipal government. They create and retain all public records and make them readily available to the public.
Smith, who was appointed to her position in 1999, made it a professional goal to see that everyone in the office was cross-trained and certified.
