Greater Marathon Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
Saturday, November 20, from 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Join Long Key State Park and experience the vision of one man to connect Key West to the mainland by train, a new frontier for the time. His vision brought commerce and tourism
to the Keys, only to be destroyed by a great hurricane. Rebuilt into the Overseas Highway, the legacy continues, but so do storms. See the history firsthand on this ranger-guided
tour, as you discover the Long Key Sidetrack, a site unearthed by another great hurricane, bringing the past to life. There will be time for additional discussion and questions at the
end of the presentation. Program free with regular park admission fee.
