City of Key West issued the following announcement on Dec. 22.
The City of Key West Transit offers an easy, safe way to enjoy New Year’s Eve this year. Let Key West Transit’s Safe Ride do the driving! The shuttle begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 31st, and runs continuously until 1:45 a.m. on January 1st. The fare is $2.00 per trip on the local route and $4.00 per trip for the Lower Keys Shuttle.
The Safe Ride shuttles cover Key West and Stock Island and the Lower Keys Shuttle between Marathon and Key West. The downtown drop-off and pickup point Fire Station #2 is at Angela and Simonton streets.
Be sure to plan, as City bus shuttles will be limited after 8 p.m. The final Lower Keys shuttle departs Key West at 1:45 a.m., and departure trips after 7 p.m. will vary depending upon circumstances.
The Duval Loop’s final departure will be at 1:45 a.m., leaving the stop at the Fire Station on Angela and Simonton. The frequency of service between 10 p.m. and that last pickup will vary due to circumstances beyond our control.
Riders are advised to check route maps during the week, as road work may cause delays during this busy week. You can check for real-time locations of buses at www.kwtransit.com.
There will be no bus service on New Year’s Day. Regular schedules will resume on Sunday, January 2nd.
