Substantial Improvement / Substantial Damage Class

Village of Islamorada recently issued the following announcement.

SISD" In-Person Class is April 6, 2022

Village staff will be hosting an in-person Substantial Improvement Substantial Damage Class in partnership with the Florida Floodplain Managers Association on April 6, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The course is $75 for FFMA members and $200 for nonmembers. Online registration is available until April 6, 2022. Register here.

Course Description

This course is designed to offer exposure to some of the more complicated nuances of Substantial Improvement/Substantial Damage requirements found in the National Flood Insurance Program, the Florida Building Code, and local Flood Damage Prevention Ordinances.

The workshop will prepare attendees for a more in-depth discussion of the issues, a basic foundation of the National Flood Insurance Program, its structure, administration, and benefits. Additionally, basic components of the concept of SISD will be presented. The course will then move directly into FEMA’s P-758 Substantial Improvement/ Substantial Damage Desk Reference and discussions will be drawn directly from the manual.
