Gimenez, who succeeded Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in 2021 and has a history of public service within Florida, expressed his views on recent developments involving Colombia and its leadership.

Gimenez criticized Colombian leadership by describing a particular piece of writing as "incoherent" and attributed it to someone he considers a "total desquiciado," or lunatic. He remarked that the individual had become "the laughingstock of the entire region." Furthermore, he expressed sympathy for Colombians who he believes do not wish to follow the path of what he terms "Castrochavismo," referencing policies implemented by Gustavo Petro: "Este escrito es incoherente y de esperar de un total desquiciado..."

Later that day, at 22:39 UTC, Gimenez emphasized his vision for freedom across the Western Hemisphere while condemning communist regimes in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. He alleged that these governments train individuals like Gustavo Petro in Colombia to destabilize the region and cause disruption in America: "The Western Hemisphere should be the hemisphere of FREEDOM!..."
