Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for Florida’s 28th district, has shared a few poignant messages on social media that reflect both personal loss and political opinion. The former Florida House of Representatives and Miami-Dade County Commission member expressed condolences and shared family tradition sentiments as well as a geopolitical perspective.

On April 11, 2025, Rep. Gimenez expressed his and his wife's condolences to the Reyes family, mourning the passing of Commissioner Manolo Reyes. He described Commissioner Reyes as "a true patriot and an exemplary public servant," highlighting the significant loss felt by the community, and conveyed his hope that "his memory be a blessing."

The same sentiment was repeated in Spanish later that day, at 12:00 p.m., when Gimenez announced, "Lourdes y yo lamentamos profundamente la pérdida de nuestro amigo el Comisionado de la Ciudad de Miami, Manolo Reyes." He acknowledged Commissioner Reyes as a dignified representative of the Cuban exile community, continuing the theme of respect and recognition of his service.

Later, on April 11 at 2:05 p.m., Rep. Gimenez turned to international affairs, asserting, "The Chinese Communist Party is our greatest adversary." He called for the United States to fully decouple from Communist China, emphasizing a strong stance on foreign policy and the need for strategic independence.

Carlos A. Gimenez was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1954, and has since made a significant political impact, serving in various capacities both locally and nationally. He graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor of Public Administration in 1999. He has lived in Miami since his tenure began with the Miami-Dade County Commission.
